The three-day Bharat Nirman Public Information Campaign (PIC) will be inaugurated by A.P. Minister for Medium Irrigation T.G. Venkatesh at APSP 2nd Battalion Stadium at Kallur, Kurnool District,, on February 21st morning. Addressing a media conference here today, T.V.K. Reddy, Director, Press Information Bureau, Hyderabad, said that the main objective of the PIC is to create complete awareness among public on the welfare and developmental schemes and programmes implemented by the State and Central Governments. Yerasu Pratap Reddy, Minister for Law and Courts, MLAs and MLCs from the district will also participate in the inaugural function, he added.
TVK Reddy further said that about 50 State and Central Government Departments will set up 60 stalls at the base camp of PIC where resource persons of the departments concerned will explain their schemes to the visiting public through banners, pamphlets, audio visual presentation, testing kits, demonstrations etc. He also said that speakers from DWMA, DRDA and Agriculture will address the gathering on the first day of PIC while second day was allocated to ICDS, NRHM, and RTI and third day to Right to Education Act and SC/ST/BC and Minority Welfare. The main theme on second day relates to AIDS where 500 sex workers, transgenders and hijras will participate.
TVK Reddy also said that artistes from Song and Drama Division of the Ministry of Information and Broadcasting will present entertainment-cum-message-oriented cultural programmes on all the three days of PIC. Students from different schools of Kurnool will participate in the Campaign in a big way and present cultural programmes including patriotic song and dances.
P. Sudarshan Reddy, District Collector, who also addressed the press conference, said that during the PIC, officers will create awareness among public on each and every scheme of Central and State Governments including RTI, NREGS, Health care, direct money transfer scheme, Amritha Hastham, Girl Child Protection Scheme etc.
P. Butchanna, DEO, said that a big rally containing about 2,500 boys and girls from different schools will be conducted in Kurnool town on the morning of February 20 marking the inauguration of Bharat Nirman PIC. Vara Prasad, Commandant, APSP 2nd Battalion, Shri Murthy, Municipal Commissioner, Jubeda Begum, Project Director, ICDS, Andaver, Lead Bank Manager, Surya Prakash, ZP CEO, Narsimhulu, DM&HO, P. Ratnakar, Asst. Director, PIB and K. Srinivasa Rao, Field Publicity Officer also took part in the media conference. (NSS)
