Public distressed by high-priced petrol, duplicate preparations and measurement

Hyderabad, January 3: At the time when the petrol is sold on very high price in our country compared to other countries and petrol price is frequently hiked, we need to use caution while fueling our vehicles and should try to know whether the correct quantity of petrol is being given for the price we are paying for that or the oil poured in our vehicle tank is not diluted or duplicate.

Given that the petrol pump workers are paid not more than 1000-2000 rupees a month they tend to earn income by other means such as by pulling the wool over customers’ eyes. There are several ways to cheat the customers. One among them is they try to indulge the customer in talking while putting the pump nozzle in the oil tank without bringing the meter to the neutral. Sometimes they pour petrol one or two points less to save the petrol. The safest way to save the money is to round up the amount to the nearest zero thus saving 40 to 50 paisa from each customer.

Even the oil sold on the petrol pumps is either diluted or duplicate.

This information has been supplied by an ex-worker of a petrol pump and other two persons working on a petrol pump on the condition of anonymity.
