There are more than 1 lakh wakf properties in and around Hyderabad city. If they are restored, the economic condition of the Muslims of Telangana State could be improved but the ruling party seems to be lacking any seriousness about the restoration and protection of these Wakf properties. Mr. Zahid Ali Khan, Editor of Siasat Urdu Daily told this while addressing a protest meeting held at Mahboob Husain Jigar Hall yesterday organized by Deccan Wakf Protection Society. Mr. Osman bin Mohammed Al Hajri recited the verses of the Quran in the beginning of the meeting. Senior CPI leader and former MP of Rajya Sabha, Mr. Syed Aziz Pasha, Senior Advocate of High Court, Mr. Osman Shahed, President of Muslim Shibban, Mr. Mushtaq Malik, former corporator, Mr. Amjadullah Khan Khalid, President of Insaaf Organization of Greater Hyderabad, Mr. Syed Kaleemuddin Askar, TRS leader, Mr. Mohammed Yosuf, Vice President of Deccan Wakf Protection Society, Mr. Syed Saleem, Ms. Khaleeda Parveen and others addressed the meeting. Mr. Syed Kareemuddin Shakeel conducted the meeting.
Mr. Zahid Ali Khan told that the Muslims of Telangana State have not been able to take advantage of the income of wakf properties due to the negligence of the Govt. He appealed to all the political parties to rise above their political associations and struggle for the restoration of Wakf properties. He recollected that late Mr. Amanullah Khan had initiated the struggle for the restoration of Wakf property belonging to Eidgah Gutla, Begumpet. It is due to his efforts the mosque and Eidgah of Begumpet is secured. On this occasion, Mr. Zahid Ali Khan also mentioned the generous contribution made by one of his friends for the construction of the mosque. He stressed the need for launching and organized movement for the restoration and protection of wakf properties. He requested the Muslims to struggle for dislodging illegal possessions on the Wakf land pertaining to Toli Masjid and other properties. He pointed out that it has become a routine for the land grabbers to dismantle Muslim graveyards to occupy wakf lands.
Mr. Aziz Pasha told that the construction work is in progress despite the orders of the Dy. CM. It shows that vested interested are coming in the way of implementation of these orders. He felt the need to implement central Wakf Act for the protection of wakf properties which makes a provision for 6 months imprisonments for land grabbers. He further told that the campaign for the restoration of Wakf land belonging to Towli Masjid has become a public movement.
Mr. Osman Shaheed told that for the destruction of wakf properties, Muslims are also responsible. So long as the Muslims do not review their positions and fail to distinguish between the friends and foes, their economic condition will not improve.
President of Deccan Wakf Protection Society, Mr. Osman bin Mohammed Al Hajri declared that he would continue his struggle for the restoration of Wakf properties belonging to Toli Masjid. He also said that he is prepared to sacrifice his life for this purpose. Mr. Amjadullah Khan Khalid told that the land grabbers attach themselves with the ministers of every ruling party by changing their guise so that illegal possessions on Wakf lands could be made easier. Mr. Mushtaq Malik made Mr. KCR responsible for the destruction of Wakf properties in Telangana State. By keeping the portfolio of Wakf, Mr. KCR has given freedom to the land grabbers to continue illegal possessions on Wakf lands.
