Hyderabad, April 11: The Parents Teachers Association of the International School, Shaikpet on Sunday unanimously decided to not pay their childrens’ fees till the school rolls back its 10 per cent hike in the school fees that it implemented recently.
Around 400 parents held a general body meeting and reached this decision despite a word given by the chairman of the school, Dr. Kakarla Subbarao, that there will be no fee hike for the next two years.
The parents’ body also decided to press the management to dissolve the fee lapse, that is the difference in fee structure for different classes, in the school.
“While a class X students at the school has to pay Rs 25,000 annually as fee, students of LKG and UKG are forced to pay as much as Rs 45,000. This is because of the artificial demand shown by the management to extract the maximum amount of money. We demand that there be no fee lapse within the same school,” said V Bhaskar Reddy, chairman of the Parents Teacher’s Association.
The parents decided to press for a single slab system and quality education in the school.
The issue of a mobile tower on the school building was also taken up during the meeting.
“The tower is creating a lot of radiation and a number of students have been complaining of headaches.”
“Despite the fact that Dr Subbarao is a renowned radiologist in the city and is well aware of the hazards of radiation, no action has been taken since the last two years,” Reddy added.
