PRP walks out of Srikrishna panels hearing

Kakinada, July 28: Praja Rajyam Party (PRP) representatives, led by its District President Jyothula Nehru, today staged a walk out from the public hearing held by Srikrishna panel at the Vidhana Gouthami Hall at the Collectorate here, protesting against the meagre time allotted to them to voice their views on Telangana issue.

The member secretary of the committee Mr V K Duggal expressed his inability to give more time to a single organisation and wanted them to give their views in writing or come over to Hyderabad
to take part in the discussions.

However, the PRP representatives did not budge from their stand but announced their decision to walk out in protest.

Later, talking to mediapersons outside the hall, the PRP leaders described the whole exercise as a farce and said no purpose would be served by giving two minutes time to each of the participants. ”What purpose it serves if the hearing is held in a haste? Ample time should be given to people to voice their views.

The hearing was held at two villages yesterday and today at the Collectorate without giving opportunity to cross sections of the society. We feel the Srikrishna panel’s visit to East Godavari is nothing but a farce and a statutory ritual,” they said. The committee lacks sincerity in hearing the public views on a vital subject concerning the very future of the state, they further alleged.
