Hyderabad, January 19: The Praja Rajyam Party today appealed to Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N Kiran Kumar Reddy to pay a compensation of Rs 10,000 per hectare to farmers who lost their crops in the recent natural calamities in different districts of the state.
Nine PRP MLAs, led by their deputy leader Bandaru Satyananda Rao, met the Chief Minister in the state Secretariat and submitted a two-page memorandum on the farmers and other issues of “public concern”.
They also sought reduction in sales tax on petrol from the current 33 per cent and waiver of four per cent value-added tax on kerosene to ease the burden on the people.
The PRP legislators wanted the government to implement the market intervention scheme with a fund of Rs 1,000 crore to control spiralling prices of essential commodities.
