PRP men recognized as CLP members: Speaker

Speaker Nadendla Manohar on Monday announced in the State Assembly that the erstwhile PRP members would be henceforth officially considered as members of the Congress Legislature Party.

It may be mentioned here that the 18-member PRP group had some time back merged with the ruling Congress. One of them Shoba Nagi Reddy declared that she was against the merger and even defied the party whip by voting in favour of the TDP’s no-confidence against the Krian Kumar Reddy Government.

A staunch supporter of Y. S. Jagan Mohan Reddy, her resignation from the Assembly which was pending with the Speaker has been recently accepted though the PRP had petitioned for her disqualification.

The Speaker making an announcement in the House this morning said that after the required amendments to the rules, the PRP members from henceforth be considered as members of the Congress Legislature Party, thus clearing the decks for the 16 PRP members to join the ranks of the ruling party. (NSS).
