PRP, Left, TRS support fasting TDP MLA

Hyderabad, June 30: The Praja Rajyam Party (PRP), Telangana Rashtra Samiti (TRS), CPI and CPI(M) today expressed solidarity with agitating Kovvur Telugu Desam MLA T V Rama Rao, whose indefinite fast entered the second day here today. Joined by his wife and some students of the Nursing college run by him in Nidadovole in West Godavari district, the Dalit TDP leader began his indefinite hunger strike yesterday, demanding withdrawal of the CB-CID probe into allegations of rape and murder.

Leaders of the PRP, TRS, CPI and CPI(M) visited the fasting venue at Indira Park and took objection to the state government ”foisting” a case against the Dalit MLA though no complaint had been lodged by family members of any of the so-called victims.

It may be recalled that Chief Minister Y S Rajasekhara Reddy had turned down the demand for withdrawal of the case against MLA when a delegation of TDP leaders had called on him at his camp office on June 28, leading to arrest of protesting TDP leaders.
