PRP favours market intervention scheme

Hyderabad, October 18: Praja Rajyam Party (PRP) president K Chiranjeevi on Saturday urged the state government to introduce a market intervention scheme with Rs 1,000 crore to regulate prices of essential commodities.

In a letter to Chief Minister K Rosaiah, Chiranjeevi wanted the government to strengthen the public distribution system and ensure that essentials were supplied to the poor regularly.

He wanted the state to either give exemption or reduce sales tax on fuel prices on similar lines as being implemented in West Bengal. He also demanded that ‘rytu bazars’ should be opened in all municipal towns and major panchayats.
