Hyderabad, August 01: With Praja Rajyam Party president Chrianjevi blissfully ignorant of what was happening in the party, one more `rebel star’ quit PRP Friday. Veteran actor nicknamed `rebel star’ UV Krishnam Raju resigned from the party expressing displeasure over the party not utilising his services in a befetting manner.
He had sent in his resignation letter to party chief Chiranjeevi.
Speaking to reporters later, Krishnam Raju said that he could not adjust in the party. “PRP has failed to utilise my services. I also could not extend my services to the party,’’ he added.
The former Telugu film star joined PRP on the eve of the recent general elections and unsuccessfully contested for Lok Sabha from Rajahmundry constituency.
Krishnam Raju, however, did not spell out his future political plans though speculation is rife that he would join the ruling Congress Party. “I will not quit public life. I am here to serve the people. I am not after posts or popularity,’’ he said.
Krishnam Raju was a BJP MP from Naraspur. He switched loyalties from BJP to PRP before the elections.
Asked about his reaction, PRP chief Chiranjeevi said: “I did not receive any letter from Krishnam Raju. I came to know oly through the media.
I will react only after reading the letter,’’ Chiranjeevi told reporters.
Meanwhile, former Mandapet MLA VVS Chowdary, who resigned from PRP a month ago, joined Congress in the presence of Chief Minister YS Rajasekhara Reddy. Chowdary said that he joined Congress as he was impressed by the policies pursued by Rajasekhara Reddy. He alleged that PRP failed to live up to the expectations of the people. Another PRP leader Goli Ramarao too joined Congress along with Chowdary.
