Provide drinking water to every village

Panchayat Raj and IT Minister K T Rama Rao today directed that Collectors implement Summer plan to provide safe drinking waters in every village. Every village should get safe and pure drinking waters without fail, the minister asked the Collectors during a video conference here. KTR stated that the Government has released Rs 263 cr towards drinking water and more funds will be released if necessary.
He directed the collectors to make use of the funds and available resources to ensure that every household receive drinking water avoiding regular problem of scarcity. Stating that arrears of using private bore wells will be cleared soon, he directed the officials make use of bore wells which are not being used by farmers. He also asked them to coordinate with RWS and others departments to attend every complaint received at district level call centers and media reports on water needs.
Since power production is on rise and the government is taking every step to tide over the problem, the district machinery should take appropriate steps to provide drinking waters to the people, he maintained. Press in adequate number of water tankers to the places which cannot receive drinking waters on time he said. There shall not be any complaint of drinking waters from the people this summer, KTR stated. The minister also reviewed on the implementation of employment guarantee scheme. He asked that the MPDOs to play active role in coordination with field assistants and local leaders to implement the scheme to provide employment to people in rural areas. Though Warangal and Nizamabad are a bit forward two more districts have to speed up the scheme, KTR said. The minister directed the collectors to come up with progress reports during two-day Collectors conference on Apr 9 and 10, he added. (NSS)
