Hyderabad, February 10: Holding Leader of the Opposition N Chandrababu Naidu responsible for all the allegations levelled against him by TDP leaders, late YSR’s close aide and Rajya Sabha member KVP Ramachandra Rao today dared Naidu to prove the allegations against him and his son.
“I, along with my son and other family members, am leaving for Dubai on February 11 and will stay there for five days. You (Naidu) start making efforts to find out about the Sheikh who wanted to arrest me. If you do not find the Sheikh, we have no objection to stay for one more week. If I am arrested in Dubai, I will not take any bail and will not return to India till it is proved that I am innocent,’’ he added.
Releasing a copy of his fivepage letter addressed to Chandrababu Naidu to mediapersons today, the Rajya Sabha member lashed out at Naidu for alleging that he and his son were absconding after incurring losses in a business involving one `Dubai Sheikh’ and would be arrested by the Sheikh if he went to Dubai. After the sudden death of YS Rajasekhara Reddy, Naidu was targeting him ahead of local body elections. KVP said the TDP leader would not hesitate to target even children if it furthered his political interests.
Accordingly, he had made the family members of the late NTR to fight against one another and had utilised their services for his political gains, he remarked.
Referring to the TDP’s allegation that he had amassed wealth, the Rajya Sabha member said that that he was well off compared to Naidu in 1978. He said that he had joined the Gulbarga Medical College by paying donation which was more than the total properties owned by Naidu’s family then, whereas he (Naidu) had availed student scholarship under the Economically Backward Class category to continue his university studies.
T hough he was a nobody as far as his financial background was concerned, Naidu, within a short span of time, became one of the richest political leaders in the world. “How can you say that the all the businesses of your (Naidu) son are legal and those relating to my son are illegal? Though I am in politics I do not want to drag family members of others into any controversy and therefore I do not want to mention the business and other activities of your son,’’ he said.
Rao suggested to Nadiu not to entertain thoughts that he could attack his opponents by making statements and using the media as his weapon.
“People of the State have realised Naidu’s gameplan. I am a sincere worker of the Congress.
I will abide by the orders issued by Congress president Sonia Gandhi and will go ahead with her blessings,’’ he said.
