NEW DELHI: Fareeda, mother of CRPF Constable Sher Mohammad said she was proud of her son who was injured in the Maoist ambush in Chhattisgarh’s Sukma, one of the deadliest in years.
As many as 25 CRPF personnel were killed and six others injured in the encounter with the Naxals on Monday.
“My son killed five naxalites and was injured. Now, he is in hospital. I am proud of my son. He has done a brave job. I am praying to Allah that my son can meet me in a good state. Every villager is praying for him. He has been a good son,” Mohammad’s mother said.

Sher Mohammad, hailing from Bulandshahr in Uttar Pradesh. He was wounded in the encounter that followed the ambush and is recuperating in a hospital.
Speaking to media in the hospital, he said , at first the Naxals sent villagers to trace our location, then almost 300 Naxals attacked us. Mohammad said the CRPF also fired in retaliation and shot many of them.
“They were around 300 & we were around 150, we kept firing. I shot 3-4 Naxals in the chest,” he added.
Despite being shot five times, Sher Mohammad also saved lives of his associates, reported Navbharat Times.
“I lifted some of our injured Jawans on my shoulders and placed them in mobile bunker and then I took them to the base hospital. From there, we were brought here(Raipur) on helicopter. Even I have been hit in my waist and knee. He said he was shot with machine gun and is suffering from intense pain,” he said.
