Hyderabad, April 09: At the crack of dawn, drumbeats reverberated as young and enthusiastic young trainee DSPs including 23 women, clad in the khaki conducted the drill amid applause from their family, friends and colleagues. The occasion was the passing-out parade of DSPs from the Andhra Pradesh Police Academy. The eighth batch to pass out from APPA, received training in various aspects, particularly in handling law and order situations.
“From today, you are responsible police officials. Discharge your duties with great commitment and responsibility and take steps to punish culprits legally,” were words of advice from the chief guest governor ESL Narasimhan.
Narasimhan reviewed the passing-out parade along with Home minister P Sabita Indra Reddy and director general of police (DGP) K Aravinda Rao. “Wherever you work, strive to solve issues of the common man while protecting law and order. You also have a moral right to eradicate corruption,” Narasimhan said.
Home minister P Sabita Indra Reddy said the state government is keen to take all measures for development of APPA. “There is a need to bring out innovative, effective research and new technical aspects to cope up with increasing extremism and terror activities in the state and nation,” she added.
K Aravinda Rao said all trainee DSPs would become sub-divisional police officers at various places in the state and entrusted with crucial task of policing as supervisory officers. “You have to exhibit and display your talent and skills in redressing people’s grievances besides donning the role of law enforcer. You have to demonstrate your professional knowledge and skills ingrained during training in leading personnel under your charge towards achieving objectives and goals of the state,” he added.
Later, the governor presented mementos to meritorious trainees like Tej Bharath Namburi, who stood first in overall training as well as indoor subjects, Kottana Eswara Rao, the outdoor topper and S Chaitanya Kumar, who gave the best performance in firing.
Governor lauds Sabita’s work
Governor ESL Narasimhan showered praises on Home minister P Sabita Indra Reddy for her performance as minister of such an important department.
He said, “She has done an outstanding job in protecting people’s rights’ while maintaining the law and order situation. The Home minister is a role model to all women police officers.”
Addressing the women DSPs, the Governor said this is the time to choose the police job to navigate their careers as sincere police officers.
