Protests for united Andhra continue

Hyderabad, December 16: Supporters of united Andhra Pradesh stepped up their agitation today with protests being held across non-Telangana regions even as several leaders continued their fast-unto-death against a separate state.

In Vijayawada, Congress MP L Rajagopala, who is on fast from past two days, said he will continue the protest till the idea of dividing the state is dropped.

Chess player Koneru Humpy, who hails from Vijayawada, visited Rajagopal and expressed solidarity with the cause of united Andhra.

The fast-unto-death launched by TDP legislator D Umamaheswara Rao, C Rama Kotaiah and others in the coastal city entered the fourth day today. Police forcibly shifted Ramakotaiah and former Mayor P Anuradha to hospital late last night.

Congress MLC Y S Vivekananda Reddy, brother of late Y S Rajasekhara Reddy, continued his fast on the second day at Kadapa after being shifted from Hyderabad yesterday.
