Protesting doctors call off strike

New Delhi: A section of doctors at Lok Nayak Jai Prakash Narayan Hospital protesting “unruly behaviour” by family members of a woman patient who died there today called off their strike.

The decision was taken in a meeting with the officials of the Delhi government’s Health department wherein members of Federation of Resident Doctors’ Association demanded that the security in the hospital premises be strengthened.

“We have demanded that the security in the hospital, especially in gynecology, pediatric, general and burn departments be strengthened,” Dr Pankaj Solanki, president of FORDA said.

The government officials said an alarm system would be put in place that would link all the four departments, he said.

FORDA members and resident doctors of LNJP also demanded that an FIR be immediately lodged whenever health institutions report such a case.
