Protesters block highway with bodies

Ghaziabad, April 03: Villagers of Mukimpur, where three persons died after allegedly consuming spurious liquor, today staged protest and blocked the national highway in Pilkhuwa area of the district, police said.

As the bodies of the three deceased reached the village, people of the area placed the bodies on the highway blocking the traffic, police said.

They were demanding two lakh compensation for the deceaseds’ families, they said.

Additional District Magistrate Ramkishan and Superintendent of Police (Rural) Ajay Mishra reached at the spot. They pacified the protesters and assured them of proper action.

Traffic was normalised after their assurance.

The district administration today ordered a magisterial probe into the deaths.

Anil (35), Satish (35) and Sundar Saini had died yesterday and Sandip was admitted to a government hospital in serious condition after they consumed liquor.
