Protest in Telangana districts on fees Reimbursement issue

(Siasat News)TRS organized protests in 10 districts of Telangana yesterday. The youth wing of TRS staged “dharna and Rasta Roko” programmes yesterday. They also burnt the effigies of the Chief Minister.

Osmania University students’ Joint Action Committee made an attempt to gherao in secretariat but police foiled their attempt by arresting them.

Mr.B.Suman, President of TRS Vidyarthi told tat the protest was successful in all the 10 districts of Telangana. The students staged dharna in front of Mandal offices and presented memorandum to the officials in which demand was made to maintain status quo in fees reimbursement scheme.

In Warangal, the students and TRS activists staged ”dharna” in front of the residence of Mr. Basavaraj Saraiah, Minister for Backward Classes Welfare. The agitating students shouted slogans against the Govt. They said that by changing the scheme of fees reimbursement, Govt. is playing with the lives of lakhs of students. They told that it is an attempt to deprive the students of Backward Classes from getting higher professional education. They told that TRS will oppose any such move and it would continue its protest against it. TRS students wing has decided to continue protest till the scheme is restored. The students demanded the Govt. to reject the recommendations of the students’ committee. They were of the opinion that the committee has been hostile to B.C’s in proposing alternations.

They told that the statement made by Mr. Botsa Satyanarayana that the scheme would be continued is not acceptable.

Osmania University Students’ Joint Action Committee has decided to intensify agitation.

Large-scale arrests of TRS activists were made in districts.

“Dharna” will be staged in front of District Collectorates to register protest against the changes to be made in the fees reimbursement scheme. TDP, BJP and other political parties have also announced to launch agitation programmes against this issue.
