Protest of the students against ABVP activists attack on Muslim student

Hyderabad, November 20: The stubbornness of Mr. Murali, Principal of Narayana Junior College, Dilsukhnagar Branch for not taking any action on the student who had beaten a Muslim student turned violent yesterday. Nearly 15 students were injured. Police arrested 7 injured students and shifted them to police station where they were interrogated and remanded.

The students were irritated on the principal’s attitude for his partisan attitude. He refused to take any action against the student who had assaulted a Muslim student. Seeing the large number of Muslim students, the Principal called the police which resorted to lathi charge on the agitating students.

It is reported that yesterday the students belonging to the majority community had beaten up a Muslim student. The principal had patched up the incident. Yesterday, the students belonging to majority community started shouting slogans. Meanwhile they encountered the group of students which had gone to the principal to enquire into the action about the student who had beaten the Muslim students. Tension increased and both the groups and they started damaging the college property seeing the large number of the Muslim students the principal called the police and sought their help. On reaching the college, police started beating the Muslim students with their lathis. Police took some of the Muslim students to police station and beat them.

Parents approached the college principal to know the details. They staged dharna in front of Malakpet police station against the attitude of police against their children. ACP, Malakpet, Mr. Iqbal Siddiqui passified the parents and told that seven children have been shifted to juvenile jail. He clarified that police had to resort to lathi charge in view of the tense situation. He said that this incident is the result of the conflict between ABVP and NSUI students.
