Protest in Ludhiana against plight of Rohingya Muslims

Ludhiana: A group of people today took out a protest march here and condemned the violence against Rohingya Muslims in Myanmar.

An estimated 300,000 Rohingya Muslim refugees have fled Myanmar and reached Bangladesh after a crackdown by Myanmar security forces in response to an attack on a military outpost by Rohingya militants on August 25.

The protestors, led by Shahi Imam of Punjab Maulana Habib ur Rehman, were carrying national flags and shouting slogans against the Myanmar government.

They also handed over a memorandum to the district revenue officer.

The memorandum called upon the Centre to put diplomatic pressure on the Myanmar government to stop the alleged killing of Rohingya Muslims in Myanmar.
