Protest in Kashmir against killing of youth during PM Modi’s visit

Srinagar: Clashes broke out between police and protesters, who were demonstrating against the killing of a youth, here on Monday.

Angered by the killing of a youth on Saturday by the Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF), the protestors pelted stones at the policemen and shouted slogans against Prime Minister Narendra Modi. The police had to resort to tear gas shells to control the situation.

Normal life also came to a standstill as all the shops were closed and even some roads were blocked.

The protesters also waved flags of Islamic State (IS) and Pakistan during the protest.

A tear gas shell hit the head of a boy, Gowhar Nazir Dar, while CRPF personnel were trying to control the mob protesting against Prime Minister Modi’s visit to the state on Saturday.

Dar was immediately taken to a nearby hospital but could not survive. (ANI)
