Hyderabad, February 4: Deccan Waqf protection society on Thursday staged dharnas at Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation and Andhra Pradesh State Waqf Board in protest against illegal constructions on Waqf properties and demanded protection of Waqf lands.
Mr. Syed Aziz Pasha MP, Mr. M Ved Kumar (TPF), Mr. Zaheer Uddin Ali Khan, Mr. Shahbaz Ahmed Khan, Mr. Saleem bin Khalifa and others participated in dharna staged at GHMC head office at Tankbund.
Commisioner GHMC Mr Sameer Sharma and Additional commissioner GHMC Mr. Dhananjay Reddy assured the delegation that immediate steps would be taken to stop construction activities on waqf properties particularly on waqf property at Nampally under Anjuman Khadimul Muslimeen.
Mr. Zaheer Uddin Khan strongly criticising GHMC for not demolishing the illegal building under construction despite repeated representations, said due to laxity of state government officials and waqf board, waqf properties are on the verge of destruction.
Chief executive officer Waqf board Mr. Habeeb Uddin Ahmed assured the protestors that he would take necessary action and undertake measures to set GHMC in motion.
