Deccan Wakf Protection Society organized a meeting at Urdu Ghar yesterday to formulate a common strategy for the protection of Wakf properties and for the educational development of the Muslims.
Speaking on this occasion, Mr. Zaheeruddin Ali Khan, Managing Editor of Siasat Urdu Daily told that the Muslims supported Telangana Movement on a mass scale. He pointed out that the destruction of Wakf properties caused the educational backwardness of the Muslims. He suggested that by projecting the Wakf properties the educational and economic backwardness of the Muslim of Telangana region could be removed. Citing the example of Lanco Hills, Mr. Zaheeruddin Ali Khan told that Lagdapati Rajagopal earned Ten Thousand Crore Rupees from Wakf land and an agreement is being entered for payment of only 64 crore Rupees to Wakf Board which is regrettable. He further told that the Muslims of Telangana region have become aware of their educational development and they are making attempts to get higher education for their children. The children of Auto Drivers are also getting Engineering Education. In such a situation, restoration of Wakf Properties would be helpful to the Muslims for their education development.
Maulana Syed Tareeq Quadri blamed the Muslim intellectual for damaging Wakf properties under political pressure. He said that political power is essential for the Muslims to act as a pressure group for getting their issues resolved. He suggested that the rents of wakf properties should be doubled which will help for the educational development of Muslims. It will also enhance the income of Wakf Board.
Ms. Jaswin Jairath told that those who transact business on interest and land grabbers have no religion.
