Protect Indian culture, CM to students

Madanapalle (Chittoor), January 25 (INN): Chief Minister N Kiran Kumar Reddy on Tuesday called upon the students and teachers’ fraternity to make efforts to protect country’s rich languages, culture and heritage from the onslaught of Western culture.

The Chief Minister was speaking after inaugurating the chorus singing of ‘Laksha Galaarchana of Jathiya Geetham’ to mark the completion of 100 years of National Anthem penned by Nobel Laureate Rabindranath Tagore at the campus of Beasant Theosophical College at Madanapalle, about 120 km from Tirupati. He asked the students to inculcate the national spirit and integrity in their lives and protect the country from anti-social elements.

Exhorting students not to blindly follow the Western culture, he suggested them to protect our language, culture, traditions and heritage for future generations.

Lauding the importance of college in the backward Rayalaseema region, Kiran kumar announced Rs 2 crore for the construction of Rabindranath Tagore Auditorium, Rs 1crore for the construction of Tagore cottage and another Rs 2 crore for the construction of college’s compound wall. He assured the management of college that the government would extend all assistance for the development of college.

Mines Minister Galla Aruna Kumari, Revenue Minister N Raghuveera Reddy, MPs Sai Pratap and Chinta Mohan, BJP leader M Venkaiah Naidu, Tirupati MLA K Chiranjeevi Madanapalle MLA Shajahan Basha, Chittoor MLA C K Babu and Puttoor MLA M Kutuhalamma were also present in the programme. (INN)
