Johannesburg, Aug 23 : South Africa were bowled out for a modest 204 in the second one-day international of the three-match series against New Zealand on Sunday at Potchefstroom.
Opting to bat first, South Africa stuttered from the start of their innings before captain AB de Villiers and Rilee Rossouw briefly steadied the ship.
However, De Villiers and Rossouw failed to convert their good starts into big scores as they were dismissed on their respective scores of 31 and 39 runs.
The hosts were reeling at 134-6 in the 32.2 over before Farhaan Behardien and Vernon Philander (30 not out) shared a crucial 54-run partnership for the seventh wicket to give their side a fighting total.
However, a well disciplined fielding performance from New Zealand wiped out the tailenders within 49.3 overs.
Fast bowler Doug Bracewell was the pick of the bowlers for the tourists as he returned figures of 3-31.
South Africa lead the three-match series 1-0 after claiming a 20-run win over New Zealand in the first ODI. (ANI)
