Hyderabad: Despite Supreme Court’s direction, Telangana Wakf Board did not release new notification for Wakf land belonging to Gutla Begumpet. Wakf Board did not even file an appeal in HC against this case.
There are report that despite instructions from Mr. Asadullah, CEO of Wakf Board, the officials of legal sections and lawyers are resorting to lethargy.
Mr. KCR had recently made an announcement for setup an Islamic Center for which Advisor to Govt. on Minority Affairs, Mr. A.K. Khan is making an attempt but he is disappointed with the attitude of the lawyers and the staff of legal sections. He sought the reasons for not filing the appeal in High Court. It is reported that CM is also not happy with the functioning of Minority Welfare Dept. CM who is also holding the portfolio of Minorities Welfare wanted to lay down the foundation stone of the proposed center. The officials of the Wakf Board hurriedly identified the land which is controversial. The file pertaining to this case has not yet been sent to the lawyer.
It may be mentioned that Supreme Court had directed the Wakf Board to terminate the ownership of the illegal occupants of this land and issue a fresh notification so as to give an opportunity to claim their ownership. It is reported that the lawyer advised the Wakf Board to issue notices to the illegal occupants where as if the notice is issued against the illegal occupants, any other person can also make a claim who has not been issued a notice.
It is reported that secretary, Dept. of Minorities Welfare did not agreed with the opinion of CEO of Wakf Board. Legal experts opine that by issuing notices to illegal occupants, it may not be easier for Wakf Board to get back 90 acres of Wakf land of Gutla Begumpet whereas if a general notice is issued, no one can come forward to claim his ownership. There are reports that despite the lapse of one month, Wakf Board has not been able to decide on the modalities of legal notice. It is suspected that the Wakf mafia is putting hurdles in such cases.
