Faizabad, February 09: Several of the parties to the Ayodhya dispute are discussing a proposal seeking release of the 70 acres of land acquired by the Centre near the makeshift temple and the Babri Masjid site.

The new proposal, which has been put forward by industrialist Sanjay Dalmia, a relative of former VHP chief Vishnu Hari Dalmia, envisages building a temple, a mosque, a church and a gurudwara in the released area.

About a dozen prominent persons from Ayodhya, including Haji Mahboob, a petitioner in the Ramjanmabhoomi-Babri Masjid title suits, Ranjeet Laal Varma, the councel for Nirmohi Akhara, Swami Hardyal Shastry, a prominent godman of Ayodhya, a representative of Nirmohi Akhara and Dharam Das, a Ram temple movement leader met recently to discuss the issue.

“Dalmia who convened the meeting laid his proposal before us. There were different opinions on its implementation on gettng the approval of Muslim and Hindu religious leaders”, according to Swami Hardyal Shastry.

According to Haji Mahboob, “I have handed over the proposal to advocate Zafaryab Jilani (counsel for the Sunni Central Waqf Board in the Ayodhya title suit), I will not compromise over Babri Masjid site. If they are ready to leave mosque land we can talk.”

According to this new proposal, leaving aside the disputed 132×80 sq ft land of Ram Lalla’s make shift shrine and Babri Masjid site, the 70 acres of land that was acquired by the union government in 1991 should be released.
