Telangana Rashtra Munnurukapu Mahasabha has demanded for political reservations in Legislature, State Ministry, M P, MLA, MLC and other statutory bodies for them in proportion to their population in the State.
At the General body meeting of the Mahasabha held here today, a resolution has been passed to this effect. The Munnurukapus constitute about 20 per cent of the State’s population. Mr Kashetti Anand Kumar, who has been elected as new President, chaired the meeting, which was attended by more than 2000 members from the ten Districts of the Telangana State.
At the moment only seven MLAs including six from TRS and one from BJP belonging to the community represent the State legislature.
In another resolution, the Mahasabha requested the Telangana State Government to establish Munnurukapu Girls’ Colleges and Hostels in every district, to promote girls education. It also wanted the Government to set up Munnurukapu Cooperative Finance Federation to provide financial assistance to the needy, particularly those living in deplorable state.
The Mahasabha appealed to all political parties to allot their party tickets to munnurkapu community in proportion to their population in the coming elections to Greater Municipal Corporation of Hyderabad.
The Mahasabha has decided to organize a massive Munnurkapu Garjana at least with five lakh community members inviting Chief Minister K. Chandrasekhar Rao as the Chief Guest. The Mahasabha said that the community would strive hard and strengthen the hands of the government in achieving Chief Minister’s Banguru Telangana.
The meeting unanimously disqualified Pilli Srinivas as the President as he lost confidence of the general body and elected executive body because of series of allegations against him and unanimously elected Kasetti Anand Kumar in his place. The general secretary of the mahasabha Suturi Narsimulu moved the resolutions which were passed by the general body.
Gampa Chandra Mohan, Member of the Munnuru Trust Board said that that they would shortly start a girls hostel in the city. Manda Venkateshwar Rao, Vinod Kumar, Jithender, Pilli Manikya Prabhu and other district leaders spoke at the annual body meeting.(NSS)
