Property tax payment to get easier

Hyderabad, June 26: House owners who live on the outskirts of the city would soon be able to pay their property tax online or at any of the e-seva centres located in the Greater Hyderabad limits. The facility would be available in two months’ time for the houseowners living in Kukatpally, Gaddianaram, Uppal Kalan, Kapra, L B Nagar, Malkajgiri, Quthbullapur, Seri Lingampally, Alwal, Rajendranagar, Patancheru and Ramachandrapuram. Now the tax-payers need not cover long distances to reach their respective ward and circle. House owners of the said 12 erstwhile municipalities can pay the property tax through online services using credit or debit cards, net banking, AP online and e-Seva centres. Speaking to Expresso, GHMC officials said that property tax related data of these 12 erstwhile municipalities which was under the jurisdiction of Commissioner and Director Municipal Administration (CDMA) has been transferred to Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC) recently.

The corporation is now feeding the data available with the GHMC.

It would soon include new house data and other related information.

The exercise would take a couple of months, senior officials said.

They also said that the GHMC would also provide an opportunity to property tax payers to pay their bills at any of the e-Seva centres located in the GHMC limits. For example, if one owns a house in Seri Lingampally and stays in Punjagutta, he or she can pay the bill either in Punjagutta or in Secunderabad.

The GHMC is going to extend the entire data on property to all the e- Seva centres located in the Greater Hyderabad limits. Soon, it will also provide bill payment facility through net banking in a tie-up with certain banks.

The officials said, “The proposed facilities will provide a hassle-free payment experience for house owners.

They just can browse the Internet by typing the PTIN number and know the exact bill amount.”
