Lucknow, August 17: The Ghazipur police has attached a property worth over 40 lakhs owned by the wife of jailed MLA Mukhtar Ansari in Rajdepur locality under the Gangster Act.
The action was carried out yesterday on the directives of the District Magistrate, Ghazipur. The property in Ghazipur tehsil was purchased in the name of Afsan Ansari.
Mukhtar Ansari is in Ghazipur jail since 2005 in connection with the murder of BJP MLA Krishnand Rai. Two cases under the Gangster Act had also been registered against Ansari at the Mohammadabad and Karanda police stations.
A provision under the Act provides for authority to attach those properties of the accused which were purchased with money earned through criminal activities.
