Kashmir (Jammu and Kashmir) [India]: proper water flow and quality feeding has increased the production of trout fish at the Laribal fish farm in Dachigam.
The Department of Fisheries is always taking steps to increase fish production and this year the proper water level at the fish farms has ensured a bountiful supply of trout, including scarp and brown varieties.
The availability of quality feed is another reason for the good yield of trout this year.
“Proper water level is very important for trout fish, and this year, we have received very good water levels in our fish farm. Second thing is quality feed, because quality feed always helps to increases the size as well as production of trout, and this year, we have provided feed in huge quantities,” said Mohammad Qasim, manager of the Laribal fish farm.
“Our aim is to increase production to 10-15 percent. Our staff is working very hard. We feed the fish thrice a day. This fish is good for diabetic patients and is in great demand,” he added. (ANI)
