Mumbai: Javed Shaikh, a final year BMS student of Tolani College and the President of Rotaract Club of Tolani College along with other fiends is helping poor by their flagship activity, “Project Hunger”. Rotaract Club conducts social activities and believes in empowering the needy and the destitute of the society. In the last few years, they had undertaken many social activities and were successful in it.
Under ‘PROJECT HUNGER’, which was started in 2013, they had donated over 1000 Kg of food grains to the needy people in the college premises. The innovative part of the project is that they do not collect money from the people or the students but instead, collects old newspapers from the vicinity societies and other places. They then sell it to generate funds. This year they managed to collect over 15,000 kg of newspaper with the efforts of the students of the college.
This initiative to eradicate hunger of the poor is worth praising and it is a motivation to the people who really wants to help the poor and address the hunger of the poor.
