Hyderabad: Prof. S.A. Shukoor, Special Officer of Haj Committee created panic by tendering his resignation to relieve him of the responsibilities of Haj Committee. As soon as he submitted his resignation to Secretary, Dept. of Minorities Welfare, he refused to accept it. He immediately contacted Dy. CM, Mr. Mohammed Mahmood Ali. Both persuaded Prof. Shukoor to continue his services atleast for the Haj Season 2018 since he has a clean record and vast experience in making arrangements for the Haj pilgrims without any complaints. It was felt that if he is relieved, the functioning of Haj Committee would get affected.
It may be mentioned that Prof. Shukoor successfully served the Haj Committee as its Special Officer continuously for three years in the absence of Haj Committee. CM of TS, Mr. KCR also applauded his services in every Haj Camp. Now that the new Haj Committee has been constituted, Prof. Shukoor has to function as its Executive Officer instead of Special Officer.
He requested the authorities to relieve him of this responsibility. Dy. CM, Mr. Mohammed Mahmoood Ali commissioned him and persuaded him to continue his services at least for this Haj season. Mr. Mahmood Ali also mentioned that the services of Haj Committee of Telangana and its Haj Camp was ranked 1st in the entire country. In such a situation, if an experienced officer of the Haj Committee is relieved, its functioning would be hampered.
It may be noted that as Special Officer of Haj Committee, Prof. Shukoor does not draw any allowance or enjoy other facilities. He performs his duties purely with the passion of serving the Haj pilgrims.
Dy. CM narrated an incident wherein a few days before the Haj, the husband of a woman Haj pilgrim expired in Saudi Arabia. Prof. Shukoor arranged the passport and visa of her “Mehram” and sent him to Saudi Arabia which facilitated the woman Haj pilgrim to perform the rituals.
Mr. Masihullah Khan, the newly elected Chairman of Haj Committee also desired Prof. Shukoor to continue his services.
At last, Prof. Shukoor consented to withdraw his resignation letter.
