New Delhi, August 16: Jamia Milia Islamia has appointed Prof S M Rashid, an expert in the field of remote-sensing, as its new Pro Vice-Chancellor.
Rashid, who is a Professor at the Department of Geography at the prestigious university and has been associated with the institution for 50 years both as a student and teacher, took charge on Friday, Jamia said in a statement.
Rashid, who has held other administrative positions in the university, was serving as the Dean of Faculty of Natural Sciences before taking up the new assignment.
Rashid, who joined the varsity as a lecturer in 1973, specialises in remote-sensing and has been working in the area of cartography, the statement said.
“I would see to it that the dream of making Jamia Millia Islamia a world class university gets fulfilled,” Rashid said.
