Jodhpur: Expressing deep sorrow over the sad demise of noted historian and Prof. Mushirul Hasan, Prof. Akhtarul Wasey of Maulana Azad University, Jodhpur termed it a personal loss. In a condolence message, Prof. Wasey said Prof Mushirul Hasan was an established acknowledged historian of modern India.
His major achievement was that he highlighted the role of Muslims in freedom struggle through his extensive work on Dr Mukhtar Ahmed Ansari, Hakim Ajmal Khan, Maulana Mohammad Ali Jauhar, Jamia Millia Islamia and Turkish writer Khalida Adeeb Khanam.
Prof Wasey said the term of Mushirul Hasan as the vice chancellor of Jamia Millia Islamia was a memorable one and the academic and creative activities during his term were remarkable. Dental College and many other research institutions are the results of his efforts.
Prof Wasey’s terms with Prof. Mushirul Hasan were spread over half a century. He was at first with Prof Mushirul Hasan in Aligarh and later at Jamia Millia Islamia. Prof Wasey said the death of Prof Mushirul Hasan is a great loss for the academic world, Aligarh and Jamia community.
