Prof. Haragopal warns against conspiracies to stop reservations

The revolution brought through protests in democratic manner during separate Telangana state movement needs to be continued in the proposed Telangana state. Especially to ensure justice to backward classes, powers of Telangana Joint Action Committees and other revolutionary organizations formed during Telangana movement, must be retained. Social activist Prof. Hara Gopal told this while advocating for justice to oppressed classes in proposed Telangana state.

He further said no comprehensive plan was made regarding eliminating backwardness of SC, ST, BC and Muslims during Telangana movement and complete focus of all Telangana activists was on the formation of Telangana but now that the Telangana state formation has reached the final phase in this situation the responsibility of ensuring justice to oppressed sections lies on political parties which would come to power.

Prof. Gopal advocated reservations to backward classes on the basis of backwardness rather than population. He also mentioned fear of depriving backward classes from reservations on the pretext of constitutional aspects. He said communal forces will try to hatch political conspiracies in the name of reservations to Muslims. An action plan is needed to provide equal developmental opportunities to backward Muslims, SC, ST, and BC classes to foil their plans.

He recalled that there was a time when the majority of the professors in universities were Muslims but Andhrite leaders not only succeeded in keeping Muslims away from universities but the percentage of Muslims in other government departments also dropped down. He stressed the need to provide equal developmental opportunities to all oppressed classes for protection of democracy in Golden Telangana.
