Production warrants against accused in serial blasts cases

New Delhi, July 24: A Delhi court on Friday issued production warrants against 11 suspected Indian Mujahideen terrorists allegedly involved in serial blasts in the capital last year.

Chief Metropolitan Magistrate Kaveri Baweja sought presence of the accused before the court on August seven.

Of the 11 accused, Mohd Saif, Zeeshan Ahmed, Mohd Shakeel, Zia-ur Rehman, Saquib Nissar, Quamuddin Kapadia and Mohd Sadiq Sheikh are in Gujarat for investigation in their alleged role in serial blasts in Ahmedabad on July 26 last year.

The other remaining accused, Mansoor Asghar Peerbhoy, Mobin Kader Sheikh, Asif Basir Sheikh and Akbar Ismail Choudhary, who are accused of sending terror emails to different media organisations just minutes before the serial blasts, are at present in custody of Maharashtra police.

Among all the accused, only Mohd Hakim, who is lodged at Tihar jail here, was produced before the court which sent him to judicial custody till August seven.

Delhi police had already filed five chargesheets in as many cases registered in connection with the serial blasts in the capital on September 13 last year which had claimed lives of 26 persons and left over 135 others injured.
