New Delhi, March 08: The International Women’s Day celebrations in the national capital today saw those in favour and against the Women’s Reservation Bill hitting the streets to espouse their cause.
A large number of women marched towards Jantar Mantar from Mandi House to mark the centenary of the International Women’s Day and demanding immediate passage of women’s bill.
The march was organised by NGOs and organisations including Action Aid, Delhi Forum, The Other Media and Committee Against Violence on Women.
They also demanded repeal of Armed Forces Special Powers Act and SEZ Act besides land reforms with women’s access to and control over productive resources.
Several Muslim organisations, which were against the women’s bill in its present form and demanded a quota within quota for Muslims, Dalit and OBC communities, also used the occasion to register their demand through a protest march in the capital.
