PROCESS OF TELANGANA STATE WITHIN 2O DAYS: SHINDE

The Central Government seem to be moving in a fast forward mode for the formation of a separate Telangana state.Union Home Minister Sushil Kumar Shinde disclosed on Monday that the curtains on the contentious issue of Telangana state would be drawn within 20 days after the Union Cabinet meeting on Friday approves the draft resolution for bifurcation of the state.

The draft resolution has already been prepared by the Ministry of Home Affairs and it was being sent to the Law Ministry for scrutiny. Afterwards it would be placed before the ensuing meeting of Union Cabinet for discussions and is expected to be approved.

After securing the Union Cabinet’s green signal the resolution for Telangana State would be sent to the State Assembly for discussion and approval. Whether the resolution gets passed or not in the Assembly, the Centre would go ahead for carving out the separate state.

Ever since the decision of the CWC to bifurcate the state and pave for creating a new Telangana State, the Seemandhra region has turned into a cauldron with the people from all walks of life taking part in the agitation for the past over a month completely paralyzing the administration in all the 132 districts in Rayalaseema and Costal Andhra regions.

The turmoil in the Seemandhra region which was getting serious with each assing day and this also lead to the resignation of many MLAs and MLCs from the region. The need for keeping the state united and if it becomes inevitable for bifurcation, then the need for making Hyderabad as a union territory was being voiced.

Thus the central government is aware that a resolution for separate Telangana state may not get passed in State Assembly and hence sending it to the Assembkly is only a formality. The Centre seemed to be anxious to complete the process of forming the new state without any further delay. As a matter of fact one senior Congress leader observed that by November end Andhra Pradesh would have two Chief Ministers – one for Telangana and the other for Seemandhra. At the same time the central government also seem to be working out plans to resolve some of the problems that might arise with the bifurcation of the state like sharing of river waters, power supply etc.

While the central government moving forward at breakneck speed to carve out a Telangana state, all eyers would be focused on the role of Chief Minister Kiran Kumar Reddy. Known for his strong views on the issue of bifurcating the state, it has to be seen whether Kiran Kumar Reddy would move the resolution in the State Assembly or would submit his resignation (NSS).
