Bhopal, November 13 (Pervez Bari): An enquiry has been ordered into technical snags being witnessed in thermal power plants of Madhya Pradesh Power Generating Company despite maintenance works. For this, a two-member committee has been constituted. The committee will submit its reports within 15 days.
After assuming charge, CMD of Madhya Pradesh Power Generating Company Ltd. Mr. Vijendra Nanavati has ordered for constitution of this two-member committee for undertaking enquiry. The committee comprises Superintending Engineers Mr. M. K. Majumdar and Mr. Prakash Chaturvedi.
The terms of reference of the enquiry committee include which works were to be undertaken during maintenance works of thermal power plants this year and how many works were undertaken, which were real agencies of maintenance works, due to what reasons technical snags are being witnessed in the plants after maintenance works and which companies and which of the officers of these companies are responsible for this?
Meanwhile, in a letter to Chief Engineers of Satpura, Sarni, Sanjay Gandhi and Birsinghpur thermal power plants, CMD of Madhya Pradesh Power Generating Company Ltd. Mr. Vijendra Nanavati has taken serious note of unnecessary expenditure made on the maintenance of these plants which was arranged by the company’s corporate office and on the other hand maintenance work of maximum number of plants took more than stipulated time. Despite this, units are being shut due to tube leakage or other technical snags due to which availability of power and company’s financial condition is being adversely affected.
Mr. Nanavati has also said in his letter that it seems that officers responsible for annual maintenance have not carried out their responsibilities properly. Both the Chief Engineers have been asked to provide all necessary information and records to the enquiry committee so that reasons behind frequent shut-down of units can be detected and the problem can be solved permanently and if negligence has been committed in the work then action can be taken against concerning agencies and officers.
