Mumbai, April 15: The Maharashtra government today announced an inquiry into the Mumbai University allegedly using NAAC accreditation without having the status.
“An inquiry would be conducted into why Mumbai University used NAAC accreditation without having the status and the report would be sent to the Chancellor of the University,” Minister of Higher and Technical Education Rajesh Tope told the Legislative Council.
Shiv Sena MLC Deepak Sawant raised the issue of the Mumbai University using NAAC accreditation on the Convocation advertisements without having the actual status.
Accepting the fact that the University has not received recommendation from the National Assessment and Accreditation Council (NAAC), the minister said the Government would complete the procedure in four months.
Tope said he would speak to acting Vice?Chancellor Chandra Krishnamurthy in this regard.
