Hyderabad, February 05 (INN): Former minister Dr P Shankar Rao on Saturday demanded that the State Government order a probe into the role of ministers into Obulapuram Mining Corporation, APIIC-Emaar and other scams.
Talking to reporters at the Congress Legislature Party office, Dr Shankar Rao extended the support to the IAS Officer Association which has raised questions on the on-going CBI probe into various scams. He said that the IAS officers should not be made scapegoats and the concerned ministers should also be punished for irregularities.
Dr Rao said that no major decision could be taken without the approval of the minister concerned. Therefore, the minister should be held responsible for all the decision taken by the State Cabinet or the Chief Minister. He said it was impossible for the IAS officers to issue a GO or make any amendments without the minister’s approval. If an IAS officer has indulged in any such irregularity alone, then why did the concerned ministers remained silent and did not take immediate action, he asked.
Demanding a thorough probe into the role of ministers in all the irregularities, Dr Shankar Rao said that the IAS officials would not be able to work fearless and impartially if ministers were spared. He also said that action against tainted ministers would save the party from the public wrath in future elections. Else, this would send wrong signals among the people.
Expressing happiness that his fight against corruption was proving fruitful, Dr Shankar Rao said that he would continue with his fight although he has been stripped of his ministerial post. (INN)
