Probe initiated into land scam in Rajasthan

Jodhpur, April 06: A probe has been initiated by Jodhpur district administration into an alleged land scam at Phalodi in which thousands of bigha of agricultural land were sold fraudulently without any knowledge of the owners.

“So far 26 cases have come into notice in which 2,276 bigha land has been reportedly sold without the owners’ knowledge. The collector has ordered a joint inquiry by DIG (Registration) and SDM (Phalodi) into the matter. Three cases were registered in this connection in two police stations here,” ADM Harji Atal said.

During initial investigations, the name of two companies — Mumbai-based M/S Maitraye Services Pvt Ltd and Delhi-based Ashapuri Developers Pvt Ltd — have emerged as the buyers of this land, which they allegedly bought with the help of local land mafia using fabricated documents, officials said.
