Need for a proactive Bait-ul-Maal in the city is being strongly felt to save poor people from the exploitation of loan sharks. Following the murder of Javeed in Chatta Bazar by a financer, a wave of grief and anger has gripped youth against the financers.
After exchanging views with various groups it is observed that youth of the city feel the need for institutions that could provide interest free loans to the needy. Youth propose a proactive Bait-ul-Maal to ensure provision of loans to the needy. They also stress the need to create awareness among small businessmen regarding state government schemes to provide financial assistant to small businessmen so that they can avail the schemes. If police, district administration and Minority Welfare Department jointly initiate measures to curb the financers’ menace poor businessmen can get huge amounts as loan.
