Hyderabad: The State government has issued a gazette notification appointing MIM’s senior most MLA Mumtaz Ahmed Khan as Pro-tem Speaker of the Assembly. The MIM leader will take oath as Pro-tem Speaker on January 16 at 5 pm. Governor ESL Narasimhan will administer the oath on that day, according to informed sources.
Since the Governor has summoned the Assembly to meet for four days from January 17 at 11.30 am and the Council on January 19 at 11.30 am, the State government issued orders in this regard. Chief Minister K Chandrasekhar Rao has honored TRS ally MIM by offering the dignified post though it is for time-being. The Pro-tem Speaker will follow the tradition of the legislature procedure to elect Speaker, who in turn will administer oath to all the elected members of the Assembly.
