Hyderabad, January 02: A day after a minister hit out at him, Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister K Rosaiah on Friday came under attack from some of the other pro-Telangana leaders within his own party over the separate state issue.
Senior Congress MLA R Damodar Reddy took exception to the complaint reportedly made by Rosaiah against Information Technology Minister K Venkata Reddy who alleged that the Chief Minister was behaving like a leader from coastal Andhra.
“When the minister has already offered his resignation, does it really matter if you complain against him to the high command,” Damodar Reddy asked.
The IT Minister had yesterday sharply attacked the Chief Minister for allegedly reporting to the Centre that Naxalites were involved in the Telangana agitation.
Meanwhile, the Congress on Friday issued notice to Andhra Pradesh’s Minister for Information Technology K Venkat Reddy for criticizing Chief Minister K. Rosaiah over the Telangana issue.
Party general secretary Janardhan Diwedi issued the notice to the minister for “deliberately damaging the party’s image” by making allegations against Rosaiah.
Party sources said Venkat Reddy has been given seven day time to reply to the notice.
The current crisis in the state could have been avoided had Rosaiah tabled a resolution in the Assembly after the Centre made the announcement on December 9, he said.
“You (Rosaiah) neither introduced a resolution in the Assembly nor issued a whip to the MLAs. Are you not responsible for this crisis by not tabling the resolution or issuing a whip,” Damodar Reddy asked.
Congress Rajya Sabha member and former PCC president K Keshav Rao also criticised the Chief Minister for not withdrawing the “false” police cases filed against students and other Telangana supporters.
The police cases should have been withdrawn by now as the Union Home Minister had promised to do so, Keshav Rao said. Keshav Rao also alleged that the Chief Minister was giving an impression that law and order was being handled by the Governor.
“An impression is given that the Governor is running the law and order,” he said.
The Chief Minister, however, received support from Health Minister D Nagender who said criticising the Chief Minister was not correct.
Several other ministers from the non-Telangana regions also found fault with the IT minister yesterday for attacking the Chief Minister.
