Private hospitals to go back to health schemes

Private hospitals are expected to resume providing services under Vajpayee Arogya Shree and Yeshasvini schemes in two days’ time.

On Wednesday, members of the Karnataka Private Hospitals’ Forum (KPHF) said that following an assurance from Minister for Health and Family Welfare U K Khader, they would call off the strike and take up again services. Dr Prashanth Kalkod, co-ordinator, KPHF, said that while a written assurance was given by the department with respect to the Yeshasvini scheme, an oral assurance was given regarding the Vajpayee Arogya Shree scheme.

Since the beginning of February, the private hospitals have withdrawn their support to the government in providing free services under the two schemes, stating that the counterfeit below poverty line cards caused problems.
