Private Engineering Colleges get relief on Payment of fees reimbursement announcement

Private Engineering Colleges felt a sigh of relief when Govt. of Telangana took a policy decision to reimburse Tuition fees of poor candidates. In all, Rs. 1587.76 crore will be paid to the college managements in three installments. Govt. of Telangana has also decided to make payment of the fees of Andhra students to enable them to continue their studies. An attempt would be made to get this amount reimburse from Govt. of A.P. Govt. has to pay fees from the academic year 2010-11.

The cabinet sub-committee decided that the fees of the students would be reimburse under the newly announced FAST scheme for Telangana students. The guidelines of FAST scheme would be finalized soon. At the first installment, Rs. 500 crore would be released. The arrears pertaining to the academic year 2010-11 work out Rs. 34.47 crore whereas Govt. has to pay Rs. 19.11 crore and Rs. 88.47 crore and Rs. 1444.9 crore for the arrears 2011-12, 2012-13 and 2013-14 respectively.

Mr. Jagadesh Reddy, Minister for Education told that FAST scheme would be different from the previous scheme. Under FAST scheme only students of Telangana would be eligible.
