Private agency to implement Sri Seva at Tirumala

Hyderabad, October 25: Chief Minister K Rosaiah has directed the Tirumala Tirupati Devasthanam (TTD) to hire an agency to implement Sri Seva introduced by it for providing better facilities to pilgrims.

The chief minister, before leaving for Bangalore this morning, was briefed about the Sri Seva scheme by endowments minister Gade Venkata Reddy, TTD Specified Authority chairman J Satyanarayana and members IYR Krishna Rao and V Nagi Reddy. They told him that right from reserving a cottage to provision of darshan and even tonsuring – all could be done under Sri Seva.

Sri Seva will be first implemented for two months on an experimental basis. As part of the programme, the TTD will offer a wide variety of packages to pilgrims. The packages will be formulated in such a way that they are convenient to the aam aadmi as well as the affluent people.

Rosaiah expressed his satisfaction over the online service, which would benefit pilgrims, and wanted the TTD to be a role model in temple administration.

He complimented the TTD Specified Authority for organising Navaratri Brahmotsavams smoothly. “I know it is a difficult task to organise the second Brahmotsavams immediately after the first one due to Adhika Maasam in Telugu calendar year,” he said.

Rosaiah wanted the TTD to ensure common devotees who visit Tirumala get suitable accommodation and hassle-free darshan. The chief minister also suggested that the stay of pilgrims in the TTD guest houses and cottages be reduced to a single day or a maximum of two days.
