Prithviraj Chouhan’s mother drew Portrait before Sufi Chisti’s arrival to Ajmer

An exceptional portrait of Ajmer Sufi Chishti, prepared by the mother of 11th century king Prithviraj Chouhan, has curtained down.

Sufi saint Khwaja Moinuddin Chishti also known as Gharīb Nawāz “Benefactor of the Poor.”

As per legend, Karpuri Devi, the mother of Prithviraj Chouhan, reportedly a famous an astrologer, once predicted that a Sufi spiritualist will come to Ajmer during his rule.

Chouhan was so curious that he asked his mother about the kind of appearance the Sufi saint will have. So therefore she drew a portrait of Moinuddin Chisti.

When Prithiviraj happened to see the Sufi mystic, the portrait was incredibly similar to drawn by his mother.

In 1996, the portrait was first published by a local fortnightly magazine on the occasion of 784th Urs of the Sufi mystic. The portrait was made available by a servant (Khadim) of the dargah.

The 803rd Urs of the Moinuddin Chishti ended recently.
